State of the Union 2014

I spent the better half of this week on jury duty and learned a lot about our justice system, about what works and what doesn’t!

This is my third year running and each year builds up to a fall or winter marathon. In 2012 I ran the Philly Marathon then just a few months ago it was the Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon.

I talk about a few things that I learned over the last couple of years and lay out the changes and things to build on for 20104.

I started out running in the Brooks GTS12, Ghost5 then transitioned to the Pure Cadence (Philly marathon) Pure Flow, Pure Connect, and never did try the Pure Drift. In October of 2013 I tried the Newton Gravity and the DistanceS (Rehoboth Marathon) which is now easily my favorite shoe. The PureProject shoes would last about 300 miles ‘till my shins would hurt and experienced general fatigue. Hopefully the Newtons will last closer to 500 miles.


I used the Hanson Marathon Method from Luke Humphrey’s book starting in about week 8 and followed the 3:30:— goal pace. For The June 7th God’s Country Marathon in Pottery County, PA I am planning to use the advanced schedule and pretty much stick to the exact mileage prescribed.
